Cheyne Terrace is a luxury residential development just off King’s Road on Chelsea Manor Street. The new building incorporates 25 apartments with terraces and balconies, a resident only health suite with a gym, spa and swimming pool, a concierge service and underground parking. The scheme also includes a number of affordable housing units.
The new high end residential development was built by Sir Robert McAlpine for a joint venture partnership between Native Land, Grosvenor Estates and a Hong Kong Family Office. Construction began on the rectangular 0.783 acre site in summer 2012.
MSMR Architects were appointed to design Cheyne Terrace, previously known as Chelsea Manor Street Apartments. Planning consent had already been issued prior to the appointment of MSMR Architects, this meant that they had to work within the constraints of an existing plan which had to be reviewed, rationalised and refined to maximise the schemes market value. To ensure all apartments were fitted out to a high specification MSMR worked closely with interior designers Spring & Mercer (now Hudson & Mercer) on the apartments and Collett-Zarzycki on the common parts.
The 125,000 sq ft development was completed in September 2014 and has already been nominated for numerous awards. The project won Silver at the 2013 Considerate Constructors Scheme National Site Awards and has since been shortlisted for The Premier Guarantee Excellence Awards 2014 and by the Society of British and International Design (SBID) for the New Build and Development category at the International Design Awards 2014.
